THE HISTORY OF KAY'S
FOUNDING
Kay's Salon was founded in 1981 by Kay Brunette. Kay had been working in the industry since 1960, and had developed long lasting connections with a loyal client base. She worked with the NCA to advocate on behalf of protecting cosmetologists throughout her career. Kay's legacy of consistent care & returning customers has lived on to this day!
Kay's daughter Christine owned & operated the salon from 2010 to early 2026. Christine carried on Kay's amazing work behind the chair, as well as the salon's dedication to the broader community.
Christine was the State President of the National Cosmetology Association from 2000-2006 & emphasized the importance of continual learning & advancement within the industry.

Today
Today Kay's Salon on the 314 is locally owned & operated by Laurie Ahrens-O'Laire. Laurie had worked alongside Kay & Christine since 2006 when she was just starting her career. Kay's willingness to give Laurie an opportunity to learn & grow at Kay's has inspired her dedication to carry on such a strong & well-known legacy in the Neenah Community.
Although the building & aesthetic may change, the passion and love that began with Kay is still at the foundation of this Salon. Laurie maintains long-lasting clients, serving clients who live over an hour away, but are willing to travel for dependable styles. Laurie brings her own sparkle with different products, salon design, & a passion for helping others see how Beautiful they are!
